Description
Objectives
The course deals with the management of geotechnical risks arising from landslides and earthquakes. The first part of the course is dedicated to the stability of earth slopes. The second part deals with the stability of rock slopes. The third part considers seismic effects on slopes, embankments and retaining walls.

Course program

  • Landslides classification and landslides risk;
  • stability analysis of earth slopes;
  • slopes monitoring;
  • stabilization methods of unstable earth slopes;
  • basic concepts of rock mechanics;
  • stability analysis of rock slopes;
  • stabilization methods of unstable rock slopes;
  • protection measures from rock falls;
  • earthquakes and seismic risk;
  • seismic analyses of slopes and embankments;
