Comparative Architecture
74.30

Description
The main goal of this course is to explore and develop the professional horizon of the students, thus allowing them to enhance their abilities to understand the evolution of the architectural phenomenon through a comparative approach (identifying and comparing common motifs and features from different geographical, cultural and / or historical settings, always relating them to a specific origin, discussing their configuration, spatiality, structure, materials, décor / ornamentations, meaning, symbol, and image). The course will discuss architecture (in general) – and the architectural object (in particular) – linking it to a set of values which surpasses its own social, cultural, political, economic and geographical context, emphasizing its values, meanings, the importance of architectural masterpieces or landmarks, placing them in a single, common framework of world culture.
