METALLIC STRUCTURES

Description
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. apply the Structural Eurocodes, Technical Building Code, Structural Code and the Standards directly related to metallic structures.
2. Determine the actions and their combinations, in the design of metallic structures.
3. Calculate and dimension sections subjected to different types of stresses and their interactions.
4. Dimension steel structural elements subjected to stresses that can produce instability phenomena.
5. Design and calculate welded and bolted joints.
6. Carry out the analysis of the components that ensure the stiffness of the joint, in the design and calculation of knots.
7. Determine the degree of utilisation of steel structures commonly used in industrial construction, considering the ultimate and serviceability limit states.
