At the end of the course Design of Machine Elements II the student will be able to:
.- Analyse and design transmission shafts and fixed shafts, from the point of view of resistance and deformation.
.- Analyse and select rolling bearings under static and dynamic stress.
.- Relate the design and operating variables in sliding bearings.
.- Calculate the forces in cylindrical, bevel and worm gears for a given power and speed of rotation.
.- List the failure modes in gears and apply a design rule for the analysis and design of these.
.- Select and calculate a flexible belt and chain transmission depending on the power to be transmitted and the speed of rotation.
.- Analyse and design clutches and friction brakes. 8.
.- Analyse and select/design the aforementioned elements by means of commercially available programmes.
