At the end of the course Design of Machine Elements I, the student will be able to
.- Remember and assimilate basic concepts of loads, stresses, resistances and safety factor.
.- Acquire the knowledge to establish failure criteria for static loads.
.- Acquire the knowledge to establish failure criteria for dynamic loads.
.- List and distinguish the main elements and procedures for the joining of parts.
.- Calculate and dimension the elements involved in a bolted joint, both for static and variable loads.
.- List and distinguish the main types of springs.
.- Calculate and dimension different types of helical springs, both at static and variable loads.
