Continuum solid mechanics
MQ02

Description
Objectives:
This course introduces the general tools and physical principles needed to assess stresses and displacements for mechanical parts with complex geometries and loads, whose material has elastic behaviour.

Learning Outcomes:
-be able to calculate stress and strain tensors
-be able to implement a linear, homogeneous and isotropic elastic behaviour model
-be able to solve classical elasticity problems in 3D, assuming small perturbations
-be able to calculate the deformation energy of a solid body
-be able to apply the principle of virtual work, as well as mechanical strength criteria
