General Chemistry
508101003

Description
1. Name and formulate inorganic and organic compounds, identifying the most important functional groups.
2. Describe and define the structure and most relevant properties of gases, liquids and solids. Perform calculations on solutions and colligative properties.
3. Perform and explain stoichiometric calculations.
4. Develop and identify the basic concepts of chemical kinetics and apply them to the study of the rate of simple reactions.
5. State, classify and exemplify the fundamental thermodynamic principles and laws and apply them to the energetic study of chemical reactions and phase transitions.
6. Define, explain, apply and exemplify the concept of chemical equilibrium (taking into account the factors that affect it) to the characterisation of acid-base, redox and precipitation systems.
7. Explain and describe the basic concepts of electrochemistry and apply them to engineering problems.
8. Describe and reproduce the structure of the periodic table and relate the position of the elements to their properties and their electronic configuration.
9. Relate and list the properties of substances with the nature of the bond they present.
10. Carry out experimental tasks in a chemical laboratory following safety criteria. Correctly handle the material, correctly interpret and explain the results obtained, establishing their relationship with the theoretical knowledge of the subject.
